Karigane is a special type of Japanese tea made from the leaves, stems, and twigs left after harvesting premium varieties like the prestigious Gyokuro. These parts, though lesser-known, are highly valued and give the tea a delicate flavor with lower levels of tannins and caffeine. Thanks to its composition, Karigane masterfully blends sweet and fresh umami notes, creating a unique character. It is cherished for its excellent quality-to-price ratio while retaining a rich and authentic taste that appeals even to the most discerning tea connoisseurs.

The Beauty of Imperfection
Young painter Hiro was preparing for his first exhibition. The paintings were perfect. Too perfect. Each line precise, each color deliberate yet something in his heart was missing. One evening he visited his uncle, who silently served him a cup of warm karigane. Hiro blew into the steam, observed, tasted. “This is not Gyokuro, ” he whispered. His uncle smiled. “Karigane. Gentle, simple. Not perfect but it speaks clearly. Like your hand, when you let it breathe.” Hiro looked into the cup, then into himself. Art, like tea, is not about perfection but honesty. That night he stared long at his paintings. The next morning, he added one small imperfect line to each.
