How to brew

Let's take a look at the process of preparing Houjicha:

  1. Start by boiling water. The water temperature for Houjicha should be between 90°C to 100°C.
  2. Use about 3-4 grams of Houjicha tea leaves per cup of water.
  3. Pour hot water over the tea leaves and let steep for 45 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. Strain the tea: Use a strainer to remove the leaves from the water.
  5. Enjoy Houjicha.
