Matcha Ceremony - Highest-grade stone-ground green tea

Matcha is a type of green tea that has been enjoyed for centuries in Japan, not only for its unique taste but also for its health benefits.

Our Matcha Ceremony is made from shade-grown tea leaves that are carefully picked, steamed, dried and stone ground into a fine powder. The shade-growing process increases the chlorophyll content of the tea leaves resulting in a brighter green colour and a higher concentration of antioxidants.

Matcha is known for its unique flavour which is often described as grassy nutty and slightly bitter umami. But Matcha isn't just delicious, it's also incredibly healthy. Matcha is packed with antioxidants which protect the body from harmful free radicals. It also contains a high level of caffeine, which can boost energy and focus,  and L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation and stress relief.

So how do you prepare matcha? First, heat the water to 60 degrees Celsius. Then, using a matcha whisk (a Chasen) or a regular whisk, mix 2 grams of matcha powder with a few drops of water to form a smooth paste. Slowly add more water (max. 150ml), and whisk continuously until you have a smooth frothy cup of matcha.
